Moth/Butterfly Pokemon with Psychic Powers?

I was looking at Venomoth's Bulbapedia page, and it said that like most moth and butterfly Pokemon, it was capable of using Psychic-type moves. That got me thinking: What is the connection between butterflies/moths and Psychic powers?

...GameFreak's ideas...just don't make sense all that often.

hmm. Ever see glitters after Butterfree flying? And you ever notice how weird the eyes loock. That might have something to do with it.
